Q&A

1. What exactly does the workshop involve?

My workshops mix beginner Spanish with fun, hands-on themed arts and crafts projects guided by me. Parents, you don't need to stay for the sessions, just come and collect them at 1pm! Each session has up to 12 students and is led in English, but as the weeks go by, we’ll sprinkle in more Spanish. Kids will pick up basic words and phrases while making creative projects that help reinforce what they've learned. Every lesson, they’ll head home with a one-of-a-kind art piece that's perfect for the wall! This isn’t your regular language or art club - it's the best of both worlds!

2. Is this workshop suitable for complete beginners?

Yes! The workshops are designed for children with little to no prior knowledge of Spanish. I introduce the language through games, and creative activities, making it easy for kids to pick up new words and phrases without feeling like they’re in a traditional classroom setting.

3. How long is each session?

Each session lasts 3 hours, giving kids plenty of time to engage with the activities, practice their Spanish, and enjoy the creative projects. Though it is kindly requested that you drop your child off on time at the start of the session. We stop for a short break half way through the session where children can have a snack.

4. What age group is this workshop aimed at?

Our workshops are perfect for children aged 5 to 8 years old, but this is just my guideline. If you have two children you want to attend or your child is slightly older/younger but you think they would enjoy it - no problem! I adapt the activities to suit the age range of the group, ensuring everyone feels involved and challenged at the right level. The topics are made suitable for this age group at beginner language level. If you have any queries, please ask!

5. Do you provide all the materials?

Yes! I supply everything your child will need for both the language activities and the arts and crafts projects. Just bring them along, and I'll handle the rest. I provide drinks but please pack a snack for your child if they will want one. Ps. Please know there is a no nuts on the premises policy!

6. What if my child is shy or doesn’t like group settings?

That’s totally fine. The workshops are designed to be relaxed and inclusive, with plenty of opportunities for quieter children to engage at their own pace. This is a peaceful relaxing workshop which encourages creativity curiosity and learning. I also offer private one-to-one sessions if you feel your child would benefit from these.

7. Can my child join halfway through a course?

Yes, I welcome new students throughout the course. Each session is designed to be engaging on its own, so your child won’t feel left behind if they start after the first week. That being said, it's recommended to do the whole ten-course to really get a feel for Spanish and get the most out of the experience! If your child can't attend a session you've booked, you can always give that session to one of your children's friends or another child in the family etc. Just let me know in advance and we can sort it out!

8. What happens if we miss a class?

Don’t worry if you have to miss a weeks lesson, we know the summer holidays are busy! The Little Picassos course is created so that it doesn't matter if a session is missed, you can just come to the next one!

9. How will this help my child with school?

These workshops provide a fantastic foundation in Spanish, giving children a nice friendly introduction to language learning or even a head start before choosing their language options in school. Learning in a fun, low-pressure environment helps build confidence, making it easier for them to engage with language lessons if they start formal classes at school. It's also just a great weekend hobby!

10. Will my child really pick up Spanish in such a short time?

These sessions help build a great foundation in Spanish. By learning through art and creativity, kids often retain new words and phrases much more effectively than through traditional teaching methods. By the end of the course, they will have some phrases, key words and expressions under their belt!

Why Little Picassos?

My workshops provide a relaxed, supportive environment where kids can build confidence outside their usual classroom setting. It’s also a fantastic way for children to get a head start with Spanish, without any pressure! Let's be honest - it can be hard encouraging kids to get away from the screens and try something new, especially over the summer holidays! This is the perfect place for children to start off their weekend in a positive, creative way (while also giving parents a few well-deserved hours to themselves)!
